Main Entrance and Foyer
The main entrance and foyer will welcome library guests arriving from the LSU Quad. The entryway will be an open, energetic space that will showcase the south portion of the high-definition digital wall and grand staircase, as well as provide abundant lounge seating for gathering students and patrons.
Technology Promenade
Adjacent to the nearby cafe, the technology promenade will be the premier architectural feature of renovated Middleton Library. Thye hallmark of this innovative area will be its high-definition digital wall that will transform the library into an exciting space of multimedia storytelling and 21st century learning.

A quiet space for focused study, the iconic reading room will include traditional seminar tables, arm chairs and appropriate lighting for long periods of concentration.

Collaboration Space
The collaboration space will be a large, communal area to gather for group study and project-based learning. Offering an array of versatile furnishings and ample natural light, the collaboration space will serve as the central hub of renovated Middleton Library and allow students the opportunity to come together for multidisciplinary engagement.

The multipurpose north and south commons will allow revitalized Middleton Library to foster idea exchange, intellectual discussion and community programming. The commons will provide students with a relaxing, social space to enjoy a break from their studies and unwind among peers.

Large Group Rooms
Nine large, enclosed study rooms outfitted with digital monitors and white boards will provide students the opportunity to break out from the open, collaborative area for more concentrated group exchanges. The large study rooms will be ideal for students who are working on creative projects and presentations in groups of six to eight.

Small Group Rooms
Small group study rooms with digital monitors, white boards and state-of-the-art equipment will be located near the central collaboration space, providing a seamless flow between the social library experience and focused group work. Each room will have a capacity to serve groups of two to four.

Two soundproof phone rooms will be available for students on the first floor to ensure student privacy and that nearby spaces don't experience unnecessary disruption.

Strategically located near the main entrances, students and library patrons will have multiple opportunities to interact with library faculty and staff as they explore all the ways Middleton Library can support their research.

Cafe and Lounge
A place to enjoy a sense of community, share ideas and re-energize, the cafe and lounge is sure to be a favorite area for students, faculty and staff alike. The space will include new, inviting furniture and a robust menu of delicious food and beverage choices that can be browsed on table-side tablets.

Second Floor Media Lobby
The media lobby will function as a reception space for students and library patrons, where guests can browse displayed daily news and pertinent university communications. Plans for the lobby include a high-definition digital wall and comfortable, modern seating for visitors to the second floor.
