Bud Johnson: Somehow [Coach Charles] McClendon always had an ability to come up with wins against teams with better physical specimens. I remember Bo Schembechler [football coach at Miami University] came down here one time and came to spring practice. He looked at the scrawny little guys that we had and asked Coach Mac, he said, [laughing] “You mean you win ball games with those little guys?” And he said, “Well, they’ll hit you. I can tell you what, they might be little but they will hit you.” [laughs]
