Papers contain correspondence, clippings, speeches, government publications, and memorandum books recording Lazaro's service as a U.S. Representative. Political papers reflect his interest in agriculture and the tariff question, state and local politics, and related national matters. Simeon A. "Alex" Box, 1920-1943. Scrapbook, 1942-1944. 1 volume. Location: Y:83, OS:B. Box was born in Quitman, Mississippi, in 1920 and graduated from LSU in 1942, where he played both baseball and football. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, earning the Distinguished Service Cross shortly before his death in 1943. The scrapbook contains mostly newspaper clippings and letters written to Earle Hubert Wagley following Box's death. Mss. 4181.

Collection is comprised of correspondence related to the relationship of Lawrence Mann, Jr. and Suzanne Alcus before their marriage, and genealogical material and family photographs of their families. Correspondence and photographs of 1945 and 1946 relate to Mann’s military service during World War II. Mss. 5161.

Zielinski, David M. Collection, 1970-1972. 1.5 linear ft. Location: 12. David M. Zielinski requested the F.B.I. documents included in this collection under the Freedom of Information Act in 1988 to be used in research for a publication. These F.B.I. documents relate the F.B.I.'s investigation into the shooting that occurred on May 15, 1970 at Jackson State College in Jackson, Mississippi. The papers consist of copies of memorandums, correspondence, news clippings, and reports made and collected by the F.B.I. during the investigation. Mss. 4223.

Ernest Tours Florance (1854-1918) was born in Pass Christian, Mississippi to Benjamin and Rebecca Florance. Florance was educated at Northwick College in London, and Lusher's Academy in New Orleans. He was admitted to the bar in 1875 and practiced law in New Orleans. He was president of the Commercial Law League of America. Florance also served as director of public schools in New Orleans from 1892 to 1898. The Ernest T. Florance Papers contain eight letters from Florance to Mrs. Norman Towne of Evanston, Illinois and one photograph of Florance. Topics discussed in the letters include World War I, New Orleans, Russia, travel, musical performances in New Orleans, art, classic books in Latin, and the Louisiana draft board. Mss. 5110.

This collection consists of 710 lantern slides contains series covering World War I, Ireland, Politicians, Life, and a few entertainment series such as Puss and Boots, Reynaud the Fox, and St. George and the Dragon and a series of long, hand-painted "story" slides. The motion picture film component contains five series with fourteen distinct titles most of which may be considered propaganda. Mss. 4849, 5091.

Wildman, John Hazard. Papers, 1849-1991 (bulk 1932-1980). 14.5 linear ft. Location Z:16-24, Vault:1, OS:W. John Hazard Wildman was a Professor of English at LSU from 1940-1981. His great-uncle, John Boylston Hazard, served as Captain of the 24th Alabama Infantry, Company I during the Civil War. Papers include correspondence, manuscripts, and printed material documenting Wildman's career in teaching and writing. Manuscripts consist of novels, short stories, essays, and poems, both published and unpublished. Diaries and personal correspondence describe Wildman's military service during WWII, as well as that of John Boylston Hazard during the Civil War. For further information, see online catalog. Morris, Martin. Correspondence, 1918, 1932, 1952. 13 items. Location: Misc. M. Native of Napoleonville, Louisiana, served as a corporal in the United States Army in September 1918. Ten World War I letters written by Martin Morris to members of his family in Napoleonville, Louisiana. In his letters, Morris discusses his health, military life and playing in the 812th Infantry Band. He comments that in some respects the Army treats a black man equal to a white man (Sept. 7, 1918). He mentions an outbreak of influenza in Chicago, and he reports that a quarantine had been enforced at Camp Grant due to the outbreak of influenza (Sept. 26, 1918). Willie Morris' draft card (Sept. 12, 1918) and an empty envelope addressed to him (Sept. 30, 1952) are also included. A letter from L. R. Jackson, of Houston, Texas, to his brother-in law, Joe Green, in Winston, Texas concerns rent and digging for a treasure (July 30, 1932). Mss. 3699
