Why can't the library discuss my fines with my parents?

How can I access Government information online?
There are a few different ways to find government information (documents, websites, data, etc.) online. If you are looking for government publications, such as regulations, bills, hearings and more, try Govinfo (https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.g…) . It provides free public access to official publications from all three branches of the Federal Government such as: the Congressional Record, congressional publications of all kinds, the Federal Register, Code of Federal Regulations, Supreme Court decisions, executive branch documents and more. Are Government Documents peer-reviewed or scholarly sources?
The government produces a large amount of publications including congressional, agency and administrative reports from hundreds of departments and agencies. Most of these publications are considered to be authoritative and credible. However, while some government reports may undergo internal review processes, not all of these documents are considered peer-reviewed or scholarly. What are the fines for lost library books?
LSU Library books are considered lost if they are not returned or renewed within 40 days after the due date. Lost book charges consist of a $70 item replacement fee, a non-refundable service charge of $30.00, and any accrued overdue fines (usually $20 max). If you would like to report a book lost, please do so using the Lost Materials Form below. If you report a book lost before the due date, no overdue fines will accrue, and the service charge will be reduced to $25. You will still be responsible for the cost of item replacement. Some individuals not affiliated with LSU may receive limited borrowing privileges. These individuals include:

Are there computers I can use in the library?
LSU faculty, staff, and students can use the computer labs located in rooms 141 and 241 of LSU Library. Students should log in using their myLSU credentials. Please contact LSU ITS with any questions regarding computer labs. Public/guest visitors can use the public access computers that are located near the print station in room 241. The primary function of LSU Libraries is academic research. For that reason, the public computers are provided for the public to do research, access the library databases, and search our online catalog. Special notes regarding public access computers:
- Printing is not available.
- Computers do not support non-browser-based applications such as word processors, video conferencing software, etc.
- Downloads are prohibited; therefore, guests are unable to save or upload files via email service providers, USB drives, external hard drives, etc.

Catch Efficiency and Economic Analysis for Traditional Fishing Gear (Troll Lines) Operated along the Coromandel and Gulf of Mannar Coasts (Southeast India)
This study evaluated the effects of three different J hook types, single hook no. 6, double hook no. 6, and triple hook no. 8, on catch rate, catch composition, and economics of two traditional troll-line methods used along the southeast coast of India. Traditionally, the hand-and leg-held troll line has been used in the Gulf of Mannar (GoM), and the outrigger boomheld method has been used on the Coromandel (CoM) coast. The studies were conducted at fortnightly intervals between June 2020 and January 2021. The overall catch rate (no. h⁻¹) was found to be highest with the double hook (0.6 fish h⁻¹) and lowest with the triple hook (0.04 fish h⁻¹) on the CoM coast, while the single hook (0.34 fish h⁻¹) and triple hook (0.02 fish h⁻¹) showed the highest and lowest catch efficiency along the GoM coast, respectively. The catch composition was constituted by Scomberomorus commerson (36%), Auxis thazard (18%), Euthynnus affinis (16%), Caranx ignobilis (13%), Thunnus albacares (9%), Scomberomorus guttatus (7%), Coryphaena hippurus (0.8%), and Istiophorus platypterus (0.2%) in the GoM, while it was Thunnus albacares (45%), Euthynnus affinis (18%), Auxis thazard (14%), Istiophorus platypterus (7%), Coryphaena hippurus (6%), Acanthocybium solandri (5%), Scomberomorus commerson (3%), and Caranx ignobilis (2%) on the CoM coast. The chi-square test showed a significant correlation between hook type and fish composition (X² = 9650.6, df = 16, p , 0.05). The current study demonstrated a net profit improvement of 3313 rupees/trip at GoM and 2093 rupees/trip at CoM. The benefit-cost ratio (B:C) for GoM and CoM was calculated to be 1.84 and 1.76, respectively.
Comparative Analysis of Changes in Fish Catches by Species and Sea Surface Temperature Change in Coastal Waters of the Republic of Korea
The Republic of Korea (South Korea) has a rich history of marine product acquisition through capture or aquaculture, given its location on a peninsula surrounded by the sea on three sides. The ocean around Korea is influenced by the Kuroshio Current and Liman Current, resulting in a boundary of water masses that is rich in nutrient salts and plankton, making it an excellent fishing ground for warm and cold current fish species in the East Sea. However, over the past 50 years (1971-2021), the Sea Surface Temperature (SST) in Korea's waters has risen by approximately 2°C, with a greater increase observed in the East Sea compared to the South and West Seas. As a result, the distribution and abundance of fish species have changed, with warm current fish such as squid, anchovies, and mackerel increasing in catch while cold current fish such as pollock and mackerel pike have decreased. In this study, trends in SST observed through satellite imagery are compared with changes in fish catches obtained from statistical data analysis. Additionally, seasonal seawater temperature and changes in fish catches by species are analyzed to predict the impact of future SST rise on fishing catches and inform appropriate policy decisions.

Data and Management Strategies for Recreational Fisheries with Annual Catch Limits
Marine recreational fishing is a popular activity enjoyed by more than 9 million Americans annually and is a driver of the American ocean-or blue-economy. To ensure that fish populations are not overexploited, the NOAA Fisheries'Marine Recreational Information Program (MRIP) monitors recreational catch through a variety of in-person, telephone, mail-in, and other surveys. NOAA Fisheries'management of recreational catch also must take into account annual catch limits (ACLs) established to prevent overfishing for all managed species in federal waters. While MRIP has worked to improve recreational catch surveys over the past decade, the surveys were never designed to meet the demands of in-season management of ACLs. In some cases, estimates of harvest have triggered accountability measures such as early season closures and reductions in future recreational ACLs, which have been a source of contention with the recreational fishing community. This report presents approaches for optimizing MRIP data and complementary data for in-season management and considers alternatives for managing recreational fisheries with ACLs to better serve both social and economic management objectives.
Tall Trees Catch Much Wind? Investigating the Role of Supervisor Perceived Status Threat in Linking Employee Overqualification to Supervisor Undermining
Overqualified employees are prevalent in today's organizations. While previous research suggests that supervisors may not often appreciate employee overqualification, how they may respond to the overqualification of their subordinates unethically has unfortunately been overlooked in organizational research. Drawing on social rank theory, we propose that supervisors may perceive a threat to their status from their overqualified subordinates, leading to supervisor undermining as an unethical response. We further hypothesize that the interpersonal personality traits of subordinates--extroversion and agreeableness--moderate the indirect relationship. We conducted a multi-wave, multisource survey study among supervisor-subordinate dyads (Study 1) and two vignette-based experiments (Studies 2A and 2B) to test our hypotheses. In Study 1, our results show that the positive indirect effect of subordinate overqualification on supervisor undermining through supervisor perceived status threat is weaker when subordinates exhibit low (vs. high) extraversion. Studies 2A and 2B largely replicate the above findings with strengthening the internal validity of our theorization. The implications of our findings for theory and practice are discussed.

Asian Industrial Hubs and Catch-up: The Case for Development Incubators
Contemporary industrial hubs evolved in East Asia after the 1950s and have been associated with the industrial catch-up of the East Asian economies and their industrial policies. This chapter has three main objectives: to depict the path of hub development in these pioneering economies and provide a synthesis of the East Asian experience; to extract relevant lessons for policymakers and practitioners; and to provide a perspective on how industrial hubs can synergize industrialization and technological catch-up. Although there are commonalities, experiences have been uneven across these economies with different stages of development. The experiences of the first-generation industrial hubs, namely Taiwan (China), South Korea, and Singapore, are reviewed, followed by China as the second generation. A synthesis, key observations, and conclusions are reviewed.
The Theory and Practice of Industrial Hubs and Economic Catch-up
Industrial hubs are at the centre of economic development. However, the literature on industrial hubs is fragmented and characterized by diverse conceptual and methodological approaches. This chapter provides a synopsis of the literature on the theory and practice of industrial hubs and economic development drawn from various intellectual traditions. The chapter also reviews critical themes drawn from structuralist development economics, focusing on industrial policy, structural transformation, and catch-up. The first section of this chapter will provide an outline of the fundamental approaches and issues. The second section will discuss historical perspectives on industrial hubs and economic agglomeration starting from the early days of the First Industrial Revolution. The third section will examine issues rooted in structural transformation, economic catch-up, and the connection between cluster dynamics and industrial policy framework. The fourth section will map empirical perspectives behind uneven global practices and outcomes and how industrial hubs can synergize industrialization and technological catch-up. The fifth section presents empirical synthesis and concluding notes.
