De Caro, F. A. Francis A. De Caro collection of materials relating to Louisiana folklore and folklife, 1975-1985. 0.5 linear ft. Location: 47. Professor of English at LSU and the first chairman of the Louisiana Folklife Commission, which is advisory to the Louisiana State Department of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism, and which works closely with the Folklife Program in the agency. Collection includes legislative documents relating to the commission and the Folklife Program, agendas and minutes of commission meetings, correspondence, press releases and articles, and materials related to the state archaeology commission. Durieux, Caroline, 1896-. Papers, 1929-1981. 2.5 linear ft. Location: X:53, OS:D. Lithographer, painter, and educator of Baton Rouge. Durieux was a professor emeritus of graphic arts at LSU and was involved with literary and artistic programs sponsored by the Works Progress Administration. Papers include personal and professional correspondence, printed items, and photographs of Durieux and her art work which document her artistic career and her career in art education at LSU. Dreger, Ralph Mason Papers, 1959-1974.  2 linear feet.  Location 53, OS:D.  Ralph Dreger, a Methodist minister and Louisiana State University professor, was extremely active in civil rights causes throughout the South.  The collection consists of manuscripts, notes, articles, and correspondence pertaining to Dr. Ralph Dreger's research.  Letters to and from authors and researchers discuss publications, request information, and ask or grant permission for quotations.  Also included are journal articles pertaining to Dreger's research, as well as his own review, "Comparative Psychological Studies of Negroes and Whites in the United States: 1959-1965".  For further information, see online catalog.  Mss. 3900.

Woolfley, Francis Augustus, 1893-1993. Papers, 1913-1993. 13 linear ft. Location: 115, 82, 99, 104. Army general who served in the 76th Infantry Division in World War II. Woolfley was also commandant of cadets at LSU and served as Louisiana director of civil defense, 1953-1958 and 1960-1964. Military papers covering General Woolfley's army career from 1913 to 1953 including maps and photographs. John B. Heroman, Sr. Photograph Collection, ca. 1885-1940. 1 cu. ft. Location: 91:2-3, OS:H. Photograph albums, loose photographs, postcards, one tintype, one greeting card, and three printed texts. All materials relate to the Heroman family of Baton Rouge and New Orleans, La. The albums contain images of the Heroman family, Heroman family dwellings in Baton Rouge, scenes around Baton Rouge, and New Orleans Mardi Gras scenes. Four of the loose unassociated album page groups contain Baton Rouge flood images from 1897, 1912. The Cirkut camera panoramic print documents Louisiana State University cadets in formation on the Parade Grounds of the University in its then three year old location in south Baton Rouge, 1928. Johnston, J. Bennett, 1932-. Papers, 196?-1996. Ca. 500 linear ft., Location: IMJBJ, OS, Range 59-60, Vault. A Shreveport attorney and state legislator, he was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1973 and retired in 1996. In addition to energy and defense, Senator Johnston focused on navigation, flood control, hurricane protection, and other natural resources programs. Primarily records of his Senate career, including correspondence, trip files, records of his administrative and legislative assistants, legislative files, papers related to Louisiana grants and projects, speeches, news releases and photographs, and committee files. Also found are papers related to his campaigns and the Democratic Party as well as the annual Washington Mardi Gras ball and the Mystick Krewe of Louisianians. Mss. 4473.
