Native of New York who was a surgeon in the hospital of the Corps d'Afrique at Port Hudson, Louisiana, and later an agent of the Freedmen's Bureau. Papers, correspondence, and records of Dr. Slauson. Volumes include a visit book kept at Hornsby, New York, and a medical visit book listing Dr. Slauson's visits in Detroit, Michigan, and Port Hudson, Louisiana. Martinez include correspondence; statistics of the rice industry; and items for publication.
