Case 12: 1990 - 2001

The trend towards diversity continues into the 21st century. Old classics, some criticized in recent years for racist and/or sexist characterizations, have been reprinted in original form, reflecting in part, perhaps, a backlash against multi-culturalism and the embrace of traditional history in the interest of heritage preservation. Reissued books on the war include Oliver Optic: The Blue and Gray SeriesGeneral Lee and Santa Claus (available as well in an updated edition for modern audiences), and Thomas Nelson Page's Two Little Confederates.
