Black History Month resources

Started by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) in 1926, Black History Month celebrates the heritage and lives of African Americans every February. Here at LSU Libraries, we want to share some of the resources we have on African Americana.

  • Thirty-two Indexes and Databases that contain Resources on African and African American Resources.
  • The African Americana Subject Guide
  • Martin Luther King Resources

The LSU Libraries also has a current display of books and pamphlets relating to Black History Month.  Visit  Room 53 to see the display, and pick up our handouts on "Famous African American Inventors and Library Resources," written by Patents and Trademarks librarian Jan Thomas, and the handout of "Selected African American Resources in Middleton Library," put together by Head of Cataloging and liaison to African and African American Studies program, Linda Smith Griffin, who also put together the entire display. For Black History Month events in the area, check out this article in The Advocate!

The LSU Libraries includes the LSU Library and the adjacent Hill Memorial Library. Together, the libraries contain more than 4 million volumes and provide additional resources such as expert staff, technology, services, electronic resources, and facilities that advance research, teaching, and learning across every discipline.
