LSU Libraries employees honored for 25 Years

Congratulations Susan Allen, Judy Bolton, and Linda Smith Griffin for twenty-five years of service to LSU! The three LSU Libraries employees were recently honored at the 2010 Employee Recognition Program on April 28 at the Lod Cook Center.

Susan Allen works in the Collection Management department at LSU Libraries. She worked at the public library in Lake Charles before moving to Baton Rouge in 1985, when she started working in the Middleton Library Reference department. Since then, she has worked in a variety of positions at LSU Libraries, processing theses and dissertations, checking materials coming back from the bindery, working with the student payroll and invoices, working on database cleanup projects, inventory, and more!

Susan has a daughter, Christie, who will graduate from LSU on May 21st and get married on June 26th, and a son, Michael, who just graduated from Baton Rouge Magnet High School on May 12th.

Judy Bolton joined the Archives staff in August 1984. She moved with Special Collections to the newly renovated Hill Memorial Library in 1985 where she continues to work.

Linda Smith Griffin is an Associate Librarian, Head of Cataloging, and affiliate faculty member of African and African American Studies.

Linda was invited to speak at the program, as the faculty representative. During her speech, she shared that "Long before I ever knew that my professional career would be that of an Academic Librarian, two of my life’s passions have always been to build strong community networks and to connect people with information that can assist in making informed decisions. LSU and specifically the LSU Libraries have provided me the best means to pursue those passions in ways I could have never imagined possible. I have been privileged to use my knowledge, expertise, and the many resources that LSU has afforded me in working with my libraries and university faculty colleagues, staff and students to assist in building a stronger university community. I remain optimistic about my own professional future, and the future of LSU."

The LSU Libraries includes the LSU Library and the adjacent Hill Memorial Library. Together, the libraries contain more than 4 million volumes and provide additional resources such as expert staff, technology, services, electronic resources, and facilities that advance research, teaching, and learning across every discipline.
