LSU graduating classes from the past

Congratulations 2010 Graduates!

As LSU hosts its 271st commencement ceremony today, Friday May 21st, let’s look at some photographs of graduating classes in the early years of the university. They were quite a bit smaller!

The vignette in the center of the image is of the Louisiana Deaf, Dumb, and Blind Asylum, LSU’s home from 1869 to 1886.

Due to financial and political difficulties in Louisiana, the five members of the class of 1874 would be the last to receive diplomas until 1882.
