Collaborative spaces in Middleton Library for students
Thank you Student Technology Fee!
LSU Libraries is pleased to announce the availability of some great new spaces for students to use in the library. On the main floor beyond the Reference Desk you will find new study tables and chairs in front of the windows. On either side you will find one or two new collaborative learning spaces, which include an extra-large plasma display and a computer with software that will let you connect several laptops and share information between them. Around the corner from the CC’s coffee shop are four diner-style booths with a similar setup. All of the spaces on the first floor are not reserved but walk-up use first-come first-served.
On the third and fourth floors, the old group study rooms have been refurbished, and two new rooms constructed on the north side of the building, and all of these also have the collaborative setup.
Another wonderful new service is the availability of two Presentation Practice rooms, one each on the third and fourth floors. These will have a podium and a camera to record a presentation and play it back.
Requests for reservations are emailed from LSU email addresses to LSULIBSTUDY@GMAIL.COM. Phone calls to 578–6926 or 578-6927 or walk-ups to either the 3rd or 4th floor library stacks office are also accepted. Rooms are available for reservation by current LSU students only. More information is available on: http://www.lib.lsu.edu/circ/studyrooms.html.
A big thank you goes to the Student Technology Fee Oversight Committee which provided the complete funding for the project. Information Technology Services selected the equipment and will be supporting the setup.
