Linda Smith Griffin, Associate Librarian and Head of Cataloging at LSU Libraries, and Stephanie Braunstein, Head, Government Documents/Microforms at LSU Libraries, were selected to participate in the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians. The institute was held on the Harvard campus Aug. 1-6, and was designed to provide attendees with leadership concepts and skills that could be applied to the challenges of leading and managing in the quickly changing environments of contemporary academic libraries. Emphasis was placed on reviewing case studies to gain insights to improve effectiveness of leadership.

Griffin is a member of the editorial board of Serials Review. She is the chair of the Heads of Cataloging Interest Group in the Association of Library Collections & Technical Services, or ALCTS, of the American Library Association, and she serves as the ALCTS Continuing Resources Section liaison to the North American Serials Interest Group.

Braunstein is the regional federal depository library coordinator for southern Louisiana. In this capacity, she oversees fourteen other federal depository libraries, primarily in other academic institutions located in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. She also serves on the Council of the American Library Association, or ALA, as the representative of the Louisiana Library Association and is currently the coordinator for the Federal Documents Task Force of the Government Documents Round Table of ALA.
