Hires authors book chapter about STM publishing
Assistant Librarian Will Hires recently co-authored a chapter with Chris C. P. Kluiters, of Springer Science and Business Media. Their chapter, titled "User Feedback from Corporate Library Advisory Boards of STM Publishers: Useful Input for New Product Development, Pricing & Licensing and Relationship Building: A Summary of Experiences of Springer's Global Corporate Advisory Boards and a Summary of a ROI Study at Four Large R&D Companies," was published in Best Practices for Corporate Libraries, edited by Librarian Sigrid Kelsey (also of LSU Libraries) and Marjorie Porter, a librarian at the National Agricultural Library.
Kluiters and Hires describe the emergence of online journal publishing, starting in the 1990s, specifically in scientific, technical, and medical (STM) publishing, and how major publishers, such as Springer, form library boards to gather information and feedback for electronic publishing models, product development, and other business decisions.
Part of The Libraries Unlimited "Library Managements Collection" series, more information on the book is available in WorldCat.
