Past, Present, and Future of Louisiana’s Historical Newspapers

The Digitizing Louisiana Newspapers Project (DLNP) at the LSU Libraries Special Collections is pleased to host a short program on historical Louisiana newspapers to be held at Hill Memorial Library’s Lecture Hall on October 9, 2012 at 2:00 PM.

The program will feature two short presentations.  Assistant Curator of Books Michael Taylor will first provide a brief history of Louisiana newspapers, then .  DLNP Project Manager Laura Charney will detail the process and numerous advantages of transferring historical newspapers online via the Library of Congress’s  Chronicling America database.  A short question and answer session will follow. All are welcome to this free event.
