Books for Tots

The LSU Libraries is collecting "Books for Tots" – new, unwrapped children's books to be given to disadvantaged children in our community.  This effort is part of the Toys for Tots Literacy Program, sponsored by the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation with support from the UPS Store.  Its mission is to offer our nation's most economically disadvantaged children the ability to compete academically and to succeed in life by providing direct access to resources that will enhance their ability to read and to communicate effectively.

You can help!  From now through December 13, you can donate new, unwrapped children's books, dropping them off at a book drop in the lobby of Middleton Library, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., or at the Circulation Desk after 3:30 p.m. This holiday season, you can help change a child’s life by giving the gift of reading.

LSU Libraries staff member Sarah Ferstel started the annual book drive in 2011, and she may be reached at 578-9424 for questions.

The LSU Libraries includes the LSU Library and the adjacent Hill Memorial Library. Together, the libraries contain more than 4 million volumes and provide additional resources such as expert staff, technology, services, electronic resources, and facilities that advance research, teaching, and learning across every discipline.
