Jennifer Abraham Cramer, Director of the LSU Libraries T. Harry Williams Center for Oral History, is featured in a recent interview on the Oral History Review website. Since October, the Oral History Review (OHR), published by Oxford University Press, has been following up with authors from the Review and discussing all sorts of issues pertinent to the oral history field. The fourth post, "Oral History in Disaster Zones," is a collaboration between the OHR's social media coordinator, Caitlin Tyler-Richards, and the media and non-print review editor, Jennifer Abraham Cramer. This post looks at responses to Superstorm Sandy, and how oral historians research natural disasters. Cramer, who conducted oral history interviews after hurricanes Katrina and Rita, provides advice based on her experiences. The T. Harry Williams Center for Oral History is part of the Special Collections of the LSU Libraries. The Williams Center for Oral History was established in 1991 as an interdisciplinary program that supports and encourages the collection, preservation, and dissemination of the social, political, cultural, and economic history of Louisiana through the use of recorded interviews. Recordings and transcripts generated by the program and its affiliated researchers are deposited in the LSU Libraries Louisiana and Lower Mississippi Valley Collections.
