LSU Libraries are currently participating in freshmen orientations throughout the summer in two ways. Through the Office of Orientation, information fairs are being held in the Cotillion Ballroom for hundreds of freshmen students who are beginning their studies at LSU this fall. Along with a multitude of other departments and services around campus, volunteers from the LSU Libraries speak to students and parents about the myriad of services that the LSU Libraries have to offer, such as LIS 1001, Special Collections, subject librarians, electronic resources, and much more.

Towards the end of the two days of orientation, parents and students go their separate ways for the students to register for classes with representatives from the Office of Orientation.  For the parents, LSU Libraries and the Office of Orientation host a “parents only” orientation to the libraries in the Middleton Library lobby. Parents take a break from the heat and enjoy refreshments provided by the Office of Orientation and have the opportunity to meet and mingle with one another and get additional information about the LSU Libraries in a quieter setting.
