New Orleans charter school students visit LSU Libraries

On May 1st, 125 first graders of KIPP New Orleans Leadership Primary, a charter school based in New Orleans, visited the LSU Campus and toured the LSU Libraries. The students were hosted by Andrea Hebert, General Librarian, Robert Bigelow, Library Associate in Education Resources, and Mitch Fontenot, Outreach Librarian. Five groups of twenty-five students were met in the lobby of Middleton Library and taken to the Education Resources Library (http://www.lib.lsu.edu/edu/er/), where Ms. Hebert read to them and gave them to opportunity to read from some of the many books in the collection.

The LSU Libraries includes the LSU Library and the adjacent Hill Memorial Library. Together, the libraries contain more than 4 million volumes and provide additional resources such as expert staff, technology, services, electronic resources, and facilities that advance research, teaching, and learning across every discipline.
