LSU Libraries confers two new staff awards
On Monday, May 12th, at a reception hosted by the LSU Library Staff Association in the Hill Memorial Library lecture hall, two new staff awards were conferred. The first award, entitled the LSU Libraries Top Resource of the Year Award, or the TROY award (named in honor of General Troy H. Middleton), recognizes exemplary performance by an LSU Libraries staff member in the accomplishment of his or her duties. The recipient is an individual who consistently excels and has a strong commitment to the mission of the LSU Libraries and the university as a whole. Nominees must be staff members who have at least one year’s service in the Libraries and they must be nominated by a library employee. The inaugural recipient of the TROY award was Marsha Arrighi, Head of Acquisitions Services, who has served the Libraries successfully for more than thirty years.
The second award is the LSU Libraries Staff Career Award. This award recognizes outstanding contributions to the LSU Libraries over the course of a career. The recipient is an individual who has consistently excelled in performance over the course of his or her career and has shown great commitment to the LSU Libraries and the university as a whole. This employee must have at least ten years of service to the Libraries. The award is given at the discretion of the Dean of the Libraries, and the recipient of the very first career award was Charles Garbush, the Libraries’ mail clerk, who has also served the library for more than thirty years. Congratulations to the 2014 recipients of these new LSU Libraries staff awards!
