Teaching with Special Collections open house

rbks2Have you considered having your class visit Hill Memorial Library but aren't sure how to plan a visit? Are you curious about how to give your students an active learning experience with primary sources? Would you like to know more about how Special Collections can support your teaching? Or are you simply interested in finding out how students in your classes can use the library's collections of cultural and historical resources from around the world?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions – or if you have others of your own – please consider coming to Hill Memorial Library’s open house on teaching with Special Collections next Wednesday, December 9th from noon until 2 pm in the McIlhenny Room. We will have examples of materials used by past classes, highlights from our growing teaching collection, as well as sample assignments to help you imagine how you might integrate archival work into your course design for the spring. Library staff will also be on hand to consult with you about planning and scheduling a visit.

This is an informal opportunity for you to ask questions about how Special Collections can assist you and your students, as well as to see some highlights from our collections. No RSVP is necessary and you can drop in at any time, but please feel free to contact John Miles (jmiles@lsu.edu) if you have specific questions for us to consider in advance, or if there are particular materials you'd like to see. If there is anything you’d like to discuss regarding your spring classes we’re happy to see how we can help.

The LSU Libraries includes the LSU Library and the adjacent Hill Memorial Library. Together, the libraries contain more than 4 million volumes and provide additional resources such as expert staff, technology, services, electronic resources, and facilities that advance research, teaching, and learning across every discipline.
