Virginia Archer has joined the LSU Libraries as the Director of Development. Archer is an LSU graduate with a bachelor's degree in anthropology and political science. After college, she moved to New Orleans where she learned various functions of non-profit administration. Her duties included grants research and writing, event management, communications management, board and donor relations, and business administration.

In 2012, Archer moved back to Baton Rouge to serve as a communications and development consultant to area non-profits and businesses. Some of her past clients include Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation, Hunters for the Hungry, Cancer Services, and WHYR Community Radio. She also volunteers as the lead writing mentor at New South Story Lab, where she shares her love of all things literary with the teens of the EBR Public Library and the Juvenile Detention Center.

Archer is thrilled to join LSU Libraries, where she can combine her development experience and her love of the scholastic and literary environment. As Director of Development, she looks forward to learning all she can about the Libraries' many services and departments. During her first year, Archer's main goal will be to help community members find meaningful ways to engage with our programming and to share LSU's exciting plans to renovate the Libraries.
