Andrea Hebert, Human Sciences, Education, and Distance Learning Librarian, was recently accepted into the 2017 Institute for Research Design in Librarianship. IRDL is a yearlong program designed for academic and research librarians to complete a research project of their design. Program scholars are assigned institute mentors, participate in assessment activities, and more to aid in improving research skills.

“IRDL will help me frame my original research in a way that ensures valid results and improves the overall quality of my contributions to the field of library science,” Hebert stated. “I’m looking forward to bringing back new ideas and approaches and sharing them with my colleagues here at LSU Libraries.”

Hebert was selected based on her project proposal, her passion for research, and a letter submitted by Dean of LSU Libraries, Stanley Wilder. IRDL is a partnership among the Loyola Marymount Library, the San Jose State University School of Information, and the Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium. The program begins with a workshop from June 4-10, 2017 at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. The workshop will provide a hands-on classroom learning experience on research design.
