Cristina Caminita wins National Library Week contest

caminitacristinaCristina Caminita, Head of Research and Instruction Services, was recently recognized as this year’s winner of Wiley’s National Library Week contest: Embedded Librarianship.

She was nominated by Emily Frank, Instructional Technologies and Engineering Librarian. “Cristina Caminita’s experience in embedded librarianship is deep and multifaceted,” Frank said. “Using a relationship-centered approach, she works to develop close connections with faculty and students by building and maintaining knowledge of programmatic goals and objectives and of specific class needs.”

In addition to her role in RIS, Caminita has worked with students in Nutrition Counseling and Education (NFS3110) for more than four years. In the course, she ensures that students develop an understanding of research and methods through active learning exercises. The students apply those skills to develop a paper on nutrition counseling and apply it to an observed nutrition counseling session.

She will receive a $1500 travel grant to attend the Charleston Conference in November 2017.

The LSU Libraries includes the LSU Library and the adjacent Hill Memorial Library. Together, the libraries contain more than 4 million volumes and provide additional resources such as expert staff, technology, services, electronic resources, and facilities that advance research, teaching, and learning across every discipline.
