Music in Middleton, September 20, 12 p.m.
“Music in Middleton” is back by popular demand. After a successful concert in April 2017, Middleton Library will host another concert performed by musicians from the LSU School of Music in the Middleton Library lobby on Monday, September 20, at noon. Four of the performers, Mariana Krewer, Hannah Urdea, Wagner Durate and Carmen Rodriguez, work in Middleton Library Music Resources.
The concert will include two string quartet performances, a string quintet performance, and a solo cello performance. The first string quartet will be Xinyu Yang (violin), Mariana Krewer (violin), Anderson Mesquita (viola), and Anna Herrera (cello), performing “String Quartet in G minor, Op. 10” by Claude Debussy. The second string quartet will be Hannah Urdea (violin), Sophie Fortunato (violin), Mounir Nessim (viola), and Andrian Harabaru (cello), performing “String Quartet op. 130” by Ludwig van Beethoven. The quintet musicians are Mariana Krewer (violin), Hannah Urdea (violin), Maricel Mendez (viola), Wagner Durate (cello), and Carmen Rodriguez (bass), and they will perform “First Youth” (from the motion picture Cinema Paradiso) by Ennio Morricone, and the tango classic “Por Una Cabeza” by Carlos Gardel and arranged by Irina Lazaryeva. Solo cellist Wagner Durate will perform the Prelude from “Suite for unaccompanied cello in C major, BWV 1009” by Johann Sebastian Bach. Also, a to-be-determined multi-musician group will perform “In Three For,” composed by Mr. Durate.
