LSU Libraries welcomes Emily Frank to a new position
Emily Frank is LSU Libraries’ new Coordinator of Scholarship and Open Access. Frank has been with LSU Libraries since August 2013 when she started as the Instructional Technologies and Engineering Librarian.
As the Coordinator of Scholarship and Open Access, Frank oversees the various initiatives to provide access to affordable course materials on campus. Frank has already been a leader in developing the e-textbooks program, which aligns licensed e-books with titles used in courses, and continues this work in her new position. She also works to provide access to open education resources that are freely available to students and faculty. Additionally, she promotes open access, which makes research outputs accessible online for free and at the highest level, available with permissions or rights that allow people to use the research outputs.
With her new position, Frank says she hopes to promote open access scholarship in terms of our collections and outputs at LSU and strengthen the collaborative relationship between the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) and the Libraries to support the LSU research community so that it becomes a more active contributor in conversations around these issues on local and national levels.
Frank love plants. In her second-floor apartment, she takes care of 28 indoor plants and 27 outdoor ones.
