Jacob Fontenot is the new head of Interlibrary Loan

Jacob Fontenot is the new head of the Interlibrary Loan Department (ILL) at LSU Libraries. The ILL Department enables LSU students, faculty, and staff to borrow books, articles, CDs, DVDs, and other materials from academic libraries throughout the world to support their research, and responds to requests from other academic libraries to borrow materials from the Libraries’ collection. As head of ILL, Fontenot will guide, support, and enhance these crucial library operations.

Fontenot is a familiar face at the Libraries, having worked in ILL since 2013. He started as lending specialist in ILL, processing loan requests from other universities, until his promotion in 2015 to the position of borrowing & document delivery specialist. Prior to his work with the Libraries, he was first a research associate and then the assistant director of research at the LSU Foundation from 2007 to 2012.

Fontenot is a native of Eunice, LA, and he has a BA in history and a separate BA in English literature, both obtained from LSU. His education was augmented by three years of graduate study in English literature in the MA/PhD program at Indiana University in Bloomington. In his spare time, he is a film enthusiast and an avid reader, particularly in the areas of current events, history, and psychology.

The LSU Libraries includes the LSU Library and the adjacent Hill Memorial Library. Together, the libraries contain more than 4 million volumes and provide additional resources such as expert staff, technology, services, electronic resources, and facilities that advance research, teaching, and learning across every discipline.
