Safe spaces in LSU Libraries
Editor's note: this post was updated on 12/11/18.
As a resource for everyone on campus as well as our surrounding community, the Libraries is committed to being safe, inclusive and welcoming to everyone. Several LSU Libraries staff members from both Middleton Library and Hill Memorial Library are specially trained to provide safe spaces for members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Through the LSU Office of Multicultural Affairs' LGBTQ Project, these LSU Libraries staff members have completed Safe Space training to learn how to be better allies to the LGBTQ students on our campus. The goal of the Safe Space Campaign is to identify and educate those who wish to support all individuals regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression. Staff or faculty members displaying the Safe Space symbol on their offices have gone through training and are committed to combating hatred and discrimination by providing support to any individual seeking assistance.
