Summer Copyright Workshop series

LSU Libraries Director of Copyright Policy and Education Peggy Hoon will conduct a Summer Copyright Workshop series. The series consists of three workshops, beginning with a Fundamentals of Copyright workshop on June 20 to take a deeper look into copyright, particularly the fair use provision as it relates to educational uses at LSU. The workshop will be held from 1-2:30 p.m. in Frey Computing Services room 101.

Sample applications, fair use resources, and your own real-world questions will be explored to provide a better understanding of copyright laws that are essential for faculty, staff, and students who need to use copyrighted works in teaching and learning activities.

Hoon will conduct the second workshop, Teaching with Copyrighted Materials: Online Instruction with Copyrighted Material, on June 27 from 1-2:30 p.m. to take an in-depth look at using copyrighted materials in online instruction with sample applications.

The last workshop of the series, Care About Your Copyrights: Responsible Choices, will be held on July 11 from 1-2:30 p.m. to cover copyright ownership principles, managing author rights with publishers and the options presented by author addendums and open access.

The LSU Libraries includes the LSU Library and the adjacent Hill Memorial Library. Together, the libraries contain more than 4 million volumes and provide additional resources such as expert staff, technology, services, electronic resources, and facilities that advance research, teaching, and learning across every discipline.
