LSU Libraries hosts Library Taster, Aug. 29

LSU Libraries is hosting Library Taster on August 29 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in 227 Middleton Library for incoming graduate students to learn more about the libraries' services that can help make their graduate school experience easier. Attendees will also have an opportunity to meet their subject librarian and register for library workshops. Refreshments will be provided.

The Libraries is hosting a workshop series for all graduate students this fall. Students are encouraged to register here as seats are limited. Below are the upcoming workshops (through September 7):

Dust Off Those Research Skills
Has it been a while since you stepped foot into a library? Do the sheer number of resources the LSU libraries offer overwhelm you? Does the thought of your first research assignment make you queasy? If yes, this is the workshop for you! Join us as we dust off those research skills and introduce (or reintroduce) library concepts, terminology, and even databases. We will go over the library basics and introduce resources to help you get caught up with some of your graduate peers. This workshop will be judgment free and laid back. Intro to Archival Research
Come to LSU Special Collections at Hill Memorial Library for a workshop about preparing to conduct your own primary source research. Topics will include the kinds of collection materials you can expect to find in various archival and special collections repositories, how to use finding aids, inventories, and other collection guides, time management tips when researching in the archives, and more. Questions and active participation are encouraged! Please bring your personal laptop, if you have one.
