LSU Libraries welcomes Narcissa Haskins as Teaching and Learning Librarian

Narcissa Haskins has joined LSU Libraries as Teaching and Learning Librarian in the Research and Instruction Services Department in Middleton Library.

Haskins' duties will include delivering instruction through various methods and platforms to undergraduate and general education courses. She will be maintaining and creating online library resources and mapping information literacy learning outcomes to meet curriculum targets. A goal Haskins has in her new position is creating new digital library resources along with some new programming. Haskins says she is looking forward engaging in various ways with students and faculty.

Haskins is from West Philadelphia. She went to Bennett College for Women in Greensboro, North Carolina for undergraduate school and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) for graduate school.

Haskins completed a practicum experience at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University F. D. Bluford Library where she focused on how technology mediates instruction, collection management, and electronic resources management. Alongside this work, Haskins was a program assistant at Greensboro Public Library, a library assistant at Bennett College Holgate Library, and a graduate assistant in the Library and Information Studies department at UNCG. These experiences allowed her to gain critical interpersonal and research skills that will be useful in her current position.

Outside of work, Haskins says she loves to paint, bowl, and travel. She says music and movies are her life, and she is always available for game night.

The LSU Libraries includes the LSU Library and the adjacent Hill Memorial Library. Together, the libraries contain more than 4 million volumes and provide additional resources such as expert staff, technology, services, electronic resources, and facilities that advance research, teaching, and learning across every discipline.
