Mark your calendars for LSU Libraries’ spring film night! LSU Libraries hosts a film screening of the 1963 film, "8 1/2 (Otto e Mezzo)," on the new LSU Quad lawn on March 13 at 7 p.m. The film screening is part of a partnership with Manship Theatre's European Film Festival in March.
Marcello Mastroianni plays Guido Anselmi, a director whose new project is collapsing around him, along with his life. One of the greatest films about film ever made, Federico Fellini's "8 1/2" turns one man's artistic crisis into a grand epic of the cinema. An early working title for "8 1/2" was "The Beautiful Confusion," and Fellini's masterpiece is exactly that: a shimmering dream, a circus, and a magic act.
LSU Libraries reached out to the LSU Screen Arts faculty for their recommendations. Their recommendations support student learning and also help build the Libraries’ streaming film collections. The film screening is open to the public. Parking at the Indian Mounds will be available, and blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged. The film is being sponsored by the Libraries Dean’s Advisory Council.
The LSU Libraries includes the LSU Library and the adjacent Hill Memorial Library.
