Randa Lopez Morgan and David Dunaway win Happy Award

LSU’s Center for Community Engagement, Learning and Leadership, or CCELL, awarded LSU Libraries' Randa Lopez Morgan and David Dunaway with Happy Awards.

The Happy Award pays tribute to Jan Shoemaker - LSU’s first Director of CCELL. This award goes to students, community partners, and faculty members who have made significant contributions to the community and service-learning. The award is typically received by 10 recipients.

Dunaway and Morgan are invested in the class and in the students' learning, both in terms of research and in terms of service-learning, said Laurie Drummond, who nominated them for the award. They are also huge environment and animal suporters who embraced and encouraged Drummond to bring foster dogs to class.

"They have truly been my partners in helping students find useful issues and conduct research focused on Animal Welfare and/or the Natural World," Drummond said. "The resource guide they've created, and update every semester, is amazing."

Happy Award winners will be recognized at the Happy Award and Partnership Celebration on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 6 p.m. at the University Presbyterian Church.

The LSU Libraries includes the LSU Library and the adjacent Hill Memorial Library. Together, the libraries contain more than 4 million volumes and provide additional resources such as expert staff, technology, services, electronic resources, and facilities that advance research, teaching, and learning across every discipline.
