General Syed Ali Zamin Memorial Scholarship 2019

Kaitlyn Bealer has been awarded the 2019 General Syed Ali Zamin Memorial Scholarship. Bealer is a junior majoring in Sociology/Criminology. She has worked at LSU Libraries in Circulation since November 2016.

"I am honored to be this year’s recipient of the General Zamin Scholarship," Bealer said. "I am grateful for all of my coworkers, managers, and patrons who have helped me become the best employee I can be. I have enjoyed my time working in Access Services and I hope to continue to grow and live up to General Zamin's legacy."

The General Syed Ali Zamin Memorial Scholarship was established in the fall of 2014 by means of a gift from the Zamin family. The scholarship seeks to recognize an undergraduate student employee in the Middleton Library circulation services unit who demonstrates the same work ethic and love for LSU that made General Zamin so outstanding. Each $1000 scholarship recipient receives $500 for two semesters. Recipients are selected by the Dean of the LSU Libraries or someone designated by the dean, and awarded in accordance with LSU policies and procedures.

The LSU Libraries includes the LSU Library and the adjacent Hill Memorial Library. Together, the libraries contain more than 4 million volumes and provide additional resources such as expert staff, technology, services, electronic resources, and facilities that advance research, teaching, and learning across every discipline.
