LSU Libraries welcomes Marcus Spann as STEM Librarian

Marcus Spann has joined LSU Libraries as the STEM Librarian and liaison to the College of Engineering. A native of Baton Rouge, Spann earned a bachelor’s degree from Southern University and received his Master of Library and Information Science from Louisiana State University. He also has experience as a librarian at East Baton Rouge Parish Library in the departments of reference, outreach, circulation, and teen services.

As the STEM Librarian, Spann will teach information literacy concepts, support research in STEM fields, develop relationships with faculty to foster scholarly connections and collaboration, and promote the library’s role within STEM departments and other units on campus. A primary goal of Spann's is to advise, inform and empower individuals at LSU through library services. He says it is vital that others become more aware of the work librarians do every day.  In addition, Spann says he hopes to give back to students with emphasis on diversity.

His hobbies include traveling, dining out and exercising and he is a fan of the arts, music, and anime.

The LSU Libraries includes the LSU Library and the adjacent Hill Memorial Library.
