Winnie Schwaid-Lindner has joined LSU Libraries as Digital Preservation Librarian.
In her new position, Schwaid-Lindner manages and maintains digital content preservation for LSU Libraries Special Collections. She ensures the usability of digital resources such as computer files, databases, and digital photographs and converts legacy media like CD ROMs and floppy disks from their native format to one that modern computers can recognize. Schwaid-Lindner’s responsibilities are carried out with the goal of allowing people who are near and far to experience the breadth and richness of the LSU Libraries Special Collections for many years to come.

Schwaid-Lindner hopes to establish and maintain a digital preservation repository based around the Libraries’ needs, and develop new policies to ensure the long-term usability of the digital collections.

Schwaid-Lindner graduated from the New York University’s Moving Image Archiving and Preservation MA program (MIAP) in May 2018. She has completed fellowships from the New York Public Library’s (NYPL’s) Preservation of Audio and Moving Image Division, NYPL’s Jerome Robbins Dance Division, The Jewish Museum, and the Library of Congress’ National Audiovisual Conservation Center.
A native of New York, Schwaid-Lindner is looking forward to doing the work she loves with people who she says are kind, constructive, and genuinely interested in her and her work. In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors and painting her nails. She likes smiling, animals, talking about how much she likes animals, and mint chocolate chip ice cream.
