David Comeaux receives Favorite Learning with LOUIS Award

David Comeaux, Systems and Discovery Librarian, was awarded the Favorite Learning with LOUIS Award at the LOUIS Users Conference (LUC) on October 16, 2019. This award acknowledges the best webinar or training session of the academic year regarding products, services, or updates available to librarians, as determined by voters. Comeaux, in conjunction with Jeanne Pavy from the University of New Orleans (UNO), was recognized for delivering the "Getting E-books into Courses: How Libraries can Partner with Faculty to Ease the Textbook Affordability Crises" webinar based on a presentation delivered at the 2018 Charleston Conference.

This webinar discussed various initiatives pursued by libraries to reduce the costs of learning materials and shared barriers to faculty engagement found by a Library Journal/EBSCO survey.  It focused on efforts made at LSU and UNO, in conjunction with LOUIS, both to reduce textbook costs and to foster collaboration with faculty, including LSU’s “e-Textbooks for Faculty” portal.

The LSU Libraries includes the LSU Library and the adjacent Hill Memorial Library. Together, the libraries contain more than 4 million volumes and provide additional resources such as expert staff, technology, services, electronic resources, and facilities that advance research, teaching, and learning across every discipline.
