LSU Libraries begins book pick-up service

As part of LSU’s Phase 2 plan to reopen the campus, LSU Libraries has launched a service to make print books available for pick-up in the LSU Library. Faculty, staff, and graduate students can request books by clicking on the “place hold” button in the online catalog and will receive an email notification when books are ready to be picked up.

The pick-up hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m., beginning on June 10. No walk-up requests will be accepted. Items that were requested while the campus was completely closed will be given first priority.   An LSU ID card must be presented to pick up reserved books.

Interlibrary loan books that arrived during the shutdown will also be available for patrons to pick up during the same days and hours. Interlibrary Loan requests are now being accepted for print books. They may take longer than usual to arrive due to closures at other libraries.

Books should be returned in the overnight book drop slot located to the right of the entrance doors, which is available at any time.

In accordance with the LSU Phase 2 guidelines, masks are required when visiting the library and the 6-foot social distancing rule must be followed when waiting in line.

Editor note: this article has been edited to update the launch date, due to the weather-related closure of the LSU campus on June 8.

The LSU Libraries includes the LSU Library and the adjacent Hill Memorial Library. Together, the libraries contain more than 4 million volumes and provide additional resources such as expert staff, technology, services, electronic resources, and facilities that advance research, teaching, and learning across every discipline.
