Corrina Dean has been awarded the 2020 General Syed Ali Zamin Memorial Scholarship. Dean is a junior majoring in Kinesiology. She works in the T. Harry Williams Center for Oral History and is primarily responsible for transcribing and auditing interviews.

Lindsey Hartman, Coordinator for the Center and Dean's supervisor, highlighted how reliable, self-motivated, and engaged Dean has been in her work at the Center and through the transition to working remotely during the closure of the Libraries due to COVID-19. Hartman says, "I have been impressed with every activity and event that Corrina has been a part of at LSU, all while remaining successful in her studies...Corrina has proven herself to be one of the most committed undergraduate students I have met."

"I am honored to have received the Zamin Award," said Dean. "I am grateful to be a part of an amazing team at LSU Libraries. Thank you to Lindsey Hartman for nominating me for this award." When not working with at the Libraries, Dean is an active member in the Gamma Theta Chapter of Phi Sigma Pi Honor Fraternity, a member of the Dance Ambassadors club, and also spends time caring for her family.

The General Syed Ali Zamin Memorial Scholarship was established in the fall of 2014 by means of a gift from the Zamin family. The scholarship seeks to recognize an undergraduate student employee in the LSU Libraries who demonstrates the same work ethic and love for LSU that made General Zamin so outstanding. Each $1000 scholarship recipient receives $500 for two semesters. Recipients are selected by the Dean of the LSU Libraries or someone designated by the dean, and awarded in accordance with LSU policies and procedures.
