Lois Kuyper-Rushing authors book about Eugene Bozza's work

Lois Kuyper-Rushing, Associate Dean of Public & Collection Services at LSU Libraries, has authored a book titled “A Thematic Index of Works by Eugene Bozza.” This volume is a chronological listing of all of Bozza’s compositions, both published and in manuscript. Each entry includes complete bibliographic information plus opening phrases of every section of every work.

The 518-page work also includes never-before published biographical information of this French composer who worked as a conductor and composer during the Nazi occupation of Paris, and was banished after the war (during the period known as “the purge”) to be the director of the conservatory the small northern French town, Valenciennes. Here he composed prodigiously, built an impressive conservatory program, and conducted for the rest of his life. Bozza leaves not only more than two hundred published works, but dozens of manuscripts, which can be found at the archives described in the book.
