LSU Libraries has purchased a campus-wide subscription to ProQuest Dissertations and Theses: Global (PQDTGlobal), available through the Libraries website. PQDTGlobal is the most comprehensive collection of full-text dissertations and theses. As the official digital dissertations archive for the Library of Congress and as the database of record for graduate research, it includes millions of searchable citations to dissertations and theses from 1861 to the present, and more than a million full-text dissertations available to download in PDF format.
"The Proquest Dissertations and Theses database is an invaluable resource for undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty," stated Shannon Walsh, Associate Professor of Theatre History, "In theatre history, when my students do research projects, many times they choose specific topics that have only been written about in dissertations or theses. For my graduate students, these resources provide not just critical research into their field of study, but limitless models for how they might structure and imagine their own theses and dissertations."
The database offers full text for most of the dissertations added since 1997 and retrospective full-text coverage for older works. Simple bibliographic citations are available for dissertations dating from 1637.
The LSU Libraries includes the LSU Library and the adjacent Hill Memorial Library. Together, the libraries contain more than 4 million volumes and provide additional resources such as expert staff, technology, services, electronic resources, and facilities that advance research, teaching, and learning across every discipline.
