Meet Danielle Stoulig, LSU Special Collections head of archival processing

Meet Danielle Stoulig, she is the new head of archival processing for LSU Libraries’ Special Collections. As the head of archival processing, Stoulig will oversee the arrangement and descriptions of archival materials for Louisiana and Lower Mississippi Valley Collection and the University Archives. Stoulig is no stranger to special collections work. She was the assistant curator for the de Grummond Children’s Literature Collection at the University of Southern Mississippi for 18 years. Prior to her current position she briefly worked as a children’s librarian in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Stoulig's plan for LSU Libraries’ Special Collections is to make more of the archival material accessible to researchers by organizing and applying descriptors to unprocessed materials in the collection. She states, “By making more materials accessible, or 'findable,' I will also fulfill another goal of mine—which is to do my part in promoting the archival collections that we have, and LSU Libraries' Special Collections as a whole. We have some really cool stuff!”

Although Stoulig grew up about 15-20 miles outside of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, that does not stop her from calling Hattiesburg home. It is where she obtained both of her degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi, and met her husband.

When Stoulig is not managing the arrangements and descriptions of archival materials, she enjoys reading, baking, traveling, watching British television, and she is looking forward to getting back to live sporting and music festivals.

The LSU Libraries includes the LSU Library and the adjacent Hill Memorial Library. Together, the libraries contain more than 4 million volumes and provide additional resources such as expert staff, technology, services, electronic resources, and facilities that advance research, teaching, and learning across every discipline.
