Michael Mulhern, an LSU graduate student specializing in Civil War History, conducted these interviews with centenarians. His first interview, with former slave Sylvester Magee, led him information on other former slaves, Polly Mason and Sarah Baker. He also interviewed Spanish-American War Veteran, Joseph Favret. Mulhern donated his interviews to the Williams Center in the 1990s.
