Persephone Hintlian conducted these interviews document the cultivation and processing of Perique tobacco, one of Louisiana's most unique agricultural products. In the past, Perique tobacco has been one of St. James Parish's most important cash crops. The Percy Martin family of the Grand Point area ensured the survival of the crop. In 1999, Percy Martin almost left the Perique production industry but entered in a partnership with Christopher Brown and Matthew Nichols, both of New Orleans. Martin then continued to plant and process Perique tobacco.
