Bastrop, Felipe E. N. Papers, 1796-1829. 31 items. Location: U:7, OS:B. A Dutch contractor who established a colony in what is today Morehouse Parish. Letters and papers (some copies) pertaining to the land grants in the Quachita River Valley of Louisiana. Ten letters (certified copies, 1806) exchanged between Bastrop and Baron de Carondelet concern land grants in the Quachita River basin (1796-1797); a contract (copy) among Baron de Bastrop, Charles Lynch, and Abraham Morehouse; a conveyance transferring land from Edward Livingston to Robert E. Griffith (1809); and a plat of Bastrop's land holdings drawn by Henry Cassidy (1811). Mss. 504.
