Blake, George. Letters, 1861-1863. 8 letters. Location: MISC:B. George Blake, son of Robert Blake and Eliza Judson, was born and lived in Waterford, New York before enlisting into Company H of the 18th New York Infantry at Albany, New York on May 7, 1861.  This collection contains eight letters from George Blake to his second cousin, Eliza Button, during Blake’s service in the Civil War written from 1861 to 1863.  Topics discussed include the moral standing of soldiers, the movements of his company, his ambitions for advancement, maneuvers and confrontations with the rebels, aspects of camp life, and Blake and Button's potential suitors.
