S. attorney for the Orleans District (1805), U.S. senator from Louisiana (1813-1817, 1819-1823), and minister to France (1823-1829). Letter of acknowledgment from Paris, France, to Colonel Thomas Aspinwall, United States consul in London, for the purchase of a tablecloth.
