Charles, I. H. (Isaac Henry). Letters, 1841-1848. 10 items. Location: Misc:C. Charles moved with his family from Philadelphia to New Orleans in 1841. There he attended school and worked as a clerk in a commercial house. Letters to a cousin, John Edward Liddall, describe Charles' sea voyage to New Orleans; his secondary education in private schools in Louisiana; the presence of yellow fever; news of the War with Mexico; and reactions to a call for volunteers.
