Typed copies of letters to Dr. Edward Duffell of Lafourche, Louisiana, from his father, Edward Duffell, Sr., of Lynchburg, Virginia, and his brother, John L. Duffell, a lieutenant in the Virginia Militia stationed in Richmond. Letters relate family news and give reports of the capture and burning of the capitol and other public buildings in Washington, D.C. and the capture of the British fleet on Lake Champlain by Commodore Thomas Macdonough. Mss. 125.
