Isaiah Garrett in Monroe, La., writes Lieutenant George W. Cullum in Washington, D.C., describing the people of Monroe, recalling their time as cadets at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., and mentioning seeing former classmates from the Class of 1833: Benjamin Alvord, Abraham C.
