Jackson was considered a national hero for his 1813 defeat of the Creek Indians. Letter to Jackson's wife written from Fort Jackson, Louisiana. Jackson discusses the prospects of further conflicts with Indian war parties, and relates his intent to return to Tennessee soon, pending the outcome of a meeting with tribal leaders.
